Hundreds of members of the banned Muslim Brothers organization were arrested and scores were held awaiting trial at the end of the year. Thousands of suspected supporters of banned Islamist groups, including possible prisoners of conscience, remained in detention under emergency legislation without charge or trial; some had been held for more than a decade. Torture and ill-treatment in detention continued to be systematic.
In the majority of torture cases, the perpetrators were not brought to justice. At least three people were sentenced to death; four others were executed.

that was a part of Amnesty International Report for 2007 concerning egypt,....as usual reports about all the countries -including the top countries - r published discussing some points as in egypt's report (torture & ill treatment / freedom of expression /refugees & migrants....etc.) & as usual our official newspapers don't discuss anyth about it & if they do,...they just mention other countries reports like USA's to make ppl feel that the report is about those countries,... hiding the truth that each country has its own report.......!!!!
the government , the official authorities & newspapers avoid mentioning any criticism for the country as if ppl here & everywhere around the world don't know the truth.....HOW STUPID!!!

this policy is followed by our main media channels in Egypt from a too long time !
they know that people like us ( who is interested in the international news and look for it and the international reports and so on ) they are few if they were compared with the majority of the egyption ppl ,
they always depend on those in there elections ( with it's al kinds ) as they use the media to support them ( which isn't supposed to be as it should be fair !)
they also know that those who will know .... they wont manage to declare what they had known all over egypt , and i do blame myself and others like me for not trying to make these news n reports reach all the egyptions with all there levels !
1st: to give credit:the report was passed 2 me by my father...!

as u said it's a policy followed all the time ,..but the point that they r stupid,...coz they dnt realize that the world changed,.... we r not in the 19 century.....!!! everything can b revealed & spread all over the world in moments by documents,...photos & videos,...so they can't say it's a consipacy ,...& that's what is shown in this report ,......it's all about local & international NGO's (Non Governmental Organizations) monitoring the life in each country ,....& we can c that the mentioned ppl & accidents really happened here......& same for all the countries ,...just monitoring & gathering info to make the report....!!!
so mayb some external reports can't be trusted 100%,....but after all ppl should have a look on what's written about us & about the world ,....but unfortunately when there's a high % of ignorance in the country ,...& a low % of readers,...u can find ppl getting info from TV & newspapers ,...which is not always honest & consequently the government or any other parties can have influence on ppl's minds & emotions dircting them to wherever they want.....!!!!

i undersand u but the point is ...
they r not directing there media to those ppl who can reveal every thing and get in touch with the outside world !
they r addressing the so simple citizen ! and they r the majority as i said befor ... they don't count for ppl like u mentioned as they know that they know every thing !
only few papers will mention such a report results in it's paper and also so few ppl read it and number of ppl in out country using the net is so so few and so so few of those care for such a report !!
so u can count that how few they r who know .... so they have to go on in there media policy !
another thing that can be mentioned here that shows clearly the how they r using the media >>
" Al Akhbar " newspaper in there issue of today " the main issue of the week and the widely distributed !
they r publishing such a book about Mobarak achievements and also his rule in October war ( which i don't admit our victory in it :: )
such a film they r publishing using the government media to show how great there leader is !!
yeah that's right,....& as i said not only does the the government use that ppl dnt make sure of the source of info. & the ignorance of some others; to fill their minds with whatever they want,....but also other parties do that on their way to take ppl to their side......!!!
& the result is obvious <-<...!!
